How do I create a screenshot for the Adlib Helpdesk?

If you report a problem to the Adlib Helpdesk, we usually ask you to provide a detailed description. Sometimes it is pratical to send one or more screenshots in which the different steps leading up to the issue, and the error itself, are clearly shown. You can make a screenshot in different ways:

  • The easiest way is to press the Print screen button, which is present on most keyboards. Everything that is displayed on screen at that moment, will be added to the Windows Clipboard as an image. Now open a new e-mail, for instance, put the cursor in the large box for the e-mail body text, and press Ctrl+V to paste the screenshot in the e-mail; you may also right-click the e-mail, and in the pop-up menu which appears, click Paste.
  • In Windows 7 and Windows Vista you can find a Snipping tool underneath the Accessories in the Start menu, with which you can make an image of just a part of the screen. This is also saved on the Clipboard, so that you can paste the screenshot in an e-mail or Word document.
  • On the internet you can find many more programs for creating screenshots, IrfanView for example, which offers extra editing functionality.
