Is my database accessible to everyone on the internet because of the OAI protocol in Adlib?

No, definitely not. Although the Open Archives Initiative is 'open', this doesn't mean that your company data is for grabs on the internet. A search engine can only access your data if you have activated this functionality explicitely. You do this by putting certain specific commands in the web configuration file of your Adlib Internet Server or Adlib OAI Server. By default these possibilities are turned off. Futhermore you'll have to submit your 'repository' to the OAI website to enable search engines to find your data. So your catalog can only be accessed when you give explicit permission, and make the required settings.
