How do I find out which .NET version I have?

A requirement for some of our software is that the Microsoft .NET framework is present on your computer, and usually a specific version is necessary, like 3.5 SP1 or 4.0. You can easily check which version you have: from your Windows start menu, open the Control panel and in that window click the Software option to check which version(s) of the Microsoft .NET Framework are already installed on your computer. If the version you need, or any higher version, has not been installed yet, then see Microsoft's website for download and installation information. (Search the website for ".NET download", for example.
